Lucas Zheng is an undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences pursuing a degree in biology with a minor in chemistry and physics. He previously worked as an undergraduate research assistant at Pitt under Dr. Gavin Arteel, studying alcohol induced liver disease his freshman year as well as a research intern at Incyte in the preclinical pharmacology department, studying myeloproliferative neoplasms his junior year.
As part of the Nacev Lab, Lucas will be working with post-doctoral researcher and Pediatric Oncology fellow Dr. Julia Leix to investigate NCoR1–a nuclear co-repressor that complexes with other chromatin modifiers to silence transcription. Following graduation, Lucas is interested in pursuing a PhD related to his undergraduate work. Outside of the lab, Lucas enjoy practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, photography, playing electric guitar and piano, and skiing.
