Julia Leix, MD
Julia received her M.D. degree at Ross University School of Medicine in 2019. Prior to her medical training, she investigated the expression of CRKNOX genes, which encode a family of homeodomain proteins that regulate gene transcription. She completed her Pediatric Residency at Lehigh Valley Reily Children’s Hospital, in Allentown, PA in 2022. She served as Pediatric Chief Resident from 2021-2022. During her Pediatric Residency, she developed a Sickle Cell Disease Multidisciplinary clinic in addition she performed retrospective analyses on induction chemotherapy complications and insurance authorizations for pediatric patients with cancer.
Julia joined Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Pediatric Hematology Oncology Fellowship program in 2022. She continues to pursue her goal of becoming a successful physician scientist and is excited to be part of the Nacev Lab pursuing postdoctoral training. She enjoys being outside and active as much as possible, which includes running, hiking, and spending time with her dog, Sadie Jane. She hopes to run the Pittsburgh marathon in 2024.
