Jason Hong

MD, PhD Student

Jason received his BA in molecular biology from Princeton University in 2022. While at Princeton, he studied under Dr. Yibin Kang, where his senior thesis work investigated chemokine signaling relationships between mammary stem cells and the surrounding microenvironment. After graduating, he worked as a postbaccalaureate fellow at the National Cancer Institute under the guidance of Dr. Carol Thiele. During this year of research, he focused on the various epigenetic mechanisms driving MYCN-amplified neuroblastoma.

Jason joined the joint MD/PhD program at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University in the summer of 2023. His primary goal is to become a successful physician-scientist, and he is excited to pursue his doctoral training in the Nacev laboratory. Outside of the lab, he enjoys running and playing the clarinet, an instrument he has played for 17 years.
